Our beloved country

We are a small country located in the heart of South America; and we have many reasons to be proud. In 2010 we were the country with the greatest economic expansion in Latin America, when we reached 15.3% growth and in the following years were no different with 13.1% in 2011 and 13.6% in 2013, with this percentage the country reached the fourth largest global economic expansion of the year.

The happiest people in the world

And in addition to these data what, what we are most proud of is that for the third consecutive year we are the country with the happiest people in the world, according to the study by Gallup in 138 countries published in 2014.

1st World Exporter of Electric Power

We have throughout the national territory three hydroelectric, two of them Binational. Itaipu in the border with Brazil, and Yacyreta in the south, bordering with Argentina. The dam itself is called Acaray.

In total the country exports 45.130 GWh which gives to Paraguay the position of largest net exporter of electricity in the world.

1st World Exporter of organic sugar

Currently we are the leading country in exporting organic sugar with numbers that exceed 200,000 tons per year, exporting to 19 countries worldwide.

2nd Producer and World Exporter of Stevia.

Unique natural calorie-free sweetener and native from our native Guarani land. The current production is equivalent to 18 to 22 tons of dry leaves per year.

2nd World Producer of Tung

We compete with China in the global production of tung. Its oil is used as an ingredient in paints and varnishes.

4th World Exporter of Soybean

We are among the largest exporter of soybeans in the world, surpassing even the numbers of Canada. Our technologies in the field are equal to those found in countries like the United States and Brazil.

4th World Exporter of cassava starch.

The production of cassava starch is another insignia that has ranked Paraguay internationally in the list of commercial interests. Exports generate an income of approximately 17.5 million USD annually. The main destinations of the product are Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina and Uruguay.

5th World Producer of Chia

Currently we are among the top five producers of chia in the world, for the year 2014 is estimated a production of 100 thousand hectares where the main production destinations are United States and Europe.

5th World Exporter of Soybean oil

Through a lot of work we put ourselves among the largest exporters of soybean oil in the world. The main reason for this was an increase of 304% in 2013 season reaching 510 000 tons of the product exported worldwide.

6th World producer of soybeans

South America controls more than half of world soybean production, at global level we are located as the sixth largest producer with estimated 8 million tons by 2014.

9th World Exporter of Meat

Meat is a product of great importance in the global economy, which we are positioned among the top 10 players in the sector in the ninth position, exporting nothing more nothing less than 300,000 tons in 2013. Previsions indicate that by 2014 we will be at the seventh position matched to Canada exporting 325,000 tons of meat.
